Poultry Of The Damned is up and running!

Just a brief note to mention that Brian Timpe and I successfully hosted our first Internet radio show on Sunday. You can listen to it right now at the Poultry Of The Damned Web site, and the next new show is this Sunday, broadcasting live at 2 PM Pacific time. Have a listen! Have a hot dog! Hear weird music from disparate genres combined in intruiging ways! Huttah!

Poultry Of The Damned Is Coming For You!

You know, I wonder if having a "news" section on this Web site is even necessary anymore. Most of my primary communication happens on the .Blog page now, or the rotating headlines on the front screen. Hmmm. I'll have to think about that.

But anyway, there is some news, so. For one thing, my band and I have just decided to shorten our band name to "Half Zaftig", rather than continue as "Yogi & Half Zaftig." I always hated the idea of being in a band that followed that hallowed naming routine of "XXXX McGoo & the XXXtones" but it sorta made sense back in 2002, when I first put a live band together to open for Keneally. I had two solo albums finished under the name "Yogi" after all. But now, this band and I have been playing together for almost a year, and we're moving into new terrain, and I hate the idea that my name, or nickname, somehow puts me out in front as if I am somehow greater in some way than the rest of the ensemble. I like Half Zaftig a lot as a band name, and the band is cool with it, so that's what we shall be. All of our recorded work we do will be released under that name.

And speaking of recording, Half Zaftig is in the midst of some of that right now! We're making a demo for gig-getting, and recording a couple of tunes to release as a single. I've got some video clips posted of the works-in-progress over at the Half Zaftig Video page, which you should check out if you haven't seen them. Making those clips is great fun, I'm getting a chance to indulge my inner Spielberg.

The other item of note is that HZ bassist Brian Timpe and I are planning on hosting an Internet radio show! Where we'll play music we like and talk about random crap, and promote the hell out of our band! We've got a name for the show, too: Poultry Of The Damned, which came from the title of a recent .Blog entry I wrote. Timpe was so enamored with that phrase that we had to find a use for it. We're working out details now about the program, but we should start broadcasting it soon.

And that's it!

We're on LAST at the Fenix on 2/25/2004! Details!

Just wanted to add an update about our show next week at the Fenix in Seattle. We're on LAST of three bands that night, so... our set time won't be until 11:30 or some ridiculous hour like that. Sorry. We do what we can with the slots we're offered, and right now, like it or not, we're nearly completely unknown in our home town. So, we take the last slot on a Wednesday night and smile purty about it. Also on the bill: Wonderkind and Monotone Pictures. Please take a nap and then come see us!
