The old audio page was ugly, confusing, and just all-around cruddy. So, we're going to make the new one better. It will be back soon.

There will be audio and video clips ranging from way back to Yogi's high school days, through the present. There will NOT be any clips from Yogi's Wonky Records releases, or his current band, Half Zaftig. They got their own Web sites for that stuff.

Hint: click the above links for clips from Yogi's band and solo albums.

FEBRUARY 12, 2004 - BLASTS FROM THE PAST!

Here's a couple of audio clips you've probably never heard.
Copper Einstein Songs

  1. "Rave Up" - One of these days, there's going to be a CD of the material I recorded in my first real "band" which was called Copper Einstein. This song will almost certainly be the leadoff track of that album. Co-written by myself and Paul Tury (who's done all the beautiful artwork on my solo albums since), the basics for this song were laid down in the summer of 1989. The lead guitar stuff (which I never played when we did it live) was overdubbed a couple of years later, in mid-1992 or so if I recall correctly, and that's also when I did this mix of it. I'm pretty sure I used my then newly-acquired black Ibanez 7-string for the lead guitar. The amp I used was my trusty Carvin X-100B through my Carvin 4x12 cabinet. Musicians: Guitars - Me, Fender P Bass - Paul Tury, Drums - Eric Carlson, Absolution - Sean Hester. Recorded at Eric's house (drums) and Sean's house, on his Tascam 38.

  2. "The Waltz" - Another mysterious Copper Einstein tune. We used to get together twice a week to rehearse in Eric's basement. His parents had this gargantuan luxurious house in Lake Ridge and they let us play in their basement with pretty much no interruption. Thank goodness for musicians that there are parents like that. Paul helped me piece this song together in my bedroom in Woodbridge as I recall. Like almost all of the Copper Einstein stuff, this is yet another instrumental - I hadn't started singing then, and the idea of playing guitar and singing at the same time seemed about as likely an occurrence as growing a second head on my shoulder. I did this mix sometime in 1993 or 1994, in the first year or so after I moved to the Seattle area. Musicians: Guitars - Me, Fender P Bass - Paul Tury, Drums - Eric Carlson. Recorded at Eric's house (drums) and Sean's house, on his Tascam 38.

OCTOBER 2, 2003 - NEW STUFF TO LISTEN TO!

Here's a couple of new audio clips for ya.

  1. "Only Shallow" - This is a cover of a song by My Bloody Valentine, released on their album Loveless. I love this song a lot and have always wanted to do a version of it since I first heard it. I wish there was a real band playing this, and not programmed drums, because I can't really get the drum machine to play it as fiercely as I imagine it being played. Oh well.

  2. "Bite Size" - Over the last few weeks, I've been conducting an experiment to try and figure out how to make myself be prolific, and writing about the results in the .Blog. Here, finally, after scads of really boring blog entries about the music I was writing, and how hard/easy/fun/whatever I was finding the process, is a medley built of moments from the six songs I cranked out in August.
