| Quote: | | The people in charge in America currently are at best incompetent, and at worst willfully, frighteningly hateful. And the so-called "good guys" have no alternatives for those of us caught in the middle. They are busy swimming in a sea of political correctness, crying about how wronged they are, but seemingly completely unable to articulate just how and when they think they could change things for the better. |
That sounds awfully familiar. In my opinion this quote is true for many countries. And I feel very sad about it.
I don't know if it's a matter of "growing up" and realising that some ideals really won't become reality, or if it is a sign of the times. It's hard for me NOT to believe that it takes a certain type of personality defect to (want to) be in charge nowadays. A certain lack of compassion, a feeling that everybody that comes out as a loser in life's lottery is to blame.
There's a beautiful song by Elvis Costello "What's so funny 'bout peace, love and understanding" I listen to a lot these days. Yelling along with his bitter voice helps somehow. |
