I haven't done a new podcast for a while, as some of you may have noticed. I got together last evening with drummer Chris G, who was the drummer of record on ARF? and Salve, and who was the first drummer for what became HZ, and we talked for HOURS with the microphone on about all kinds of stuff. There's so much stuff in there, it's probably going to make TWO podcasts. It's going to take a while to edit, but I just wanted to let y'all know it's coming.
PLUS, he gave me copies of the final mixes for a couple of tracks from his nearly finished project recording the music of his late brother Andrew. I played guitar on two songs, but look at who else contributed to this thing:
- Mike Keneally
- Bryan Beller
- Rick Musallam
- ADRIAN BELEW (on guitar and vocals)
- Dave Meros of Spock's Beard
- Ryo Okumoto of Spock's Beard
- And a bunch of other people from the prog rock world I don't know
I wasn't really sure how the songs were going to come out - the source material we were working from was really crude 4-track recordings. But I am BLOWN AWAY with how good this stuff sounds, and I don't even like prog rock that much. I'm struck by how melodic the material comes across as - there's a track with Keneally on guitar and Adrian Belew singing that is just beautiful, I wish I'd written it. Anyway, I'll be including these mixes in the podcast when I get it edited together. I just wanted folks to know that this is going to be something to really look forward to. It will come out sometime next year. |

Hi,
I assume that this is an album we can eventually buy?

Hi,
Cool. There're some heavy-hitters on this album (Yogi included ). I guess Chris G made some "friends" when he moved to L.A. Good for him!
What's the short story about his brother, if I may?

| I'm looking forward to hearing this album! What an amazing way to make a tribute to his brother. |
