| The Forum was down for about a day it looks like. My hosting company shut it down to forcibly make me upgrade the Forum software. They could have just sent me a nice email. Sheesh. Looks like it's back in bidness, however. Let me know, will you, if you discover anything not kosher. |

Hi,
Working for ISP myself, I understand why they shut it down. An email would have been nice, yes. But I'm here to tell you that I see a dozen servers hacked everyday through insecure and outdated copies of phpBB. It's a pain in my ass actually. I spend the better part of every day cleaning up the mess. My advice is to stay on top of it... updating that is. Glad to see it back online.

I hear ya, but it would have been nice to get a message from them saying, "you need to upgrade your phpBB." I dug around on my site for a while before finally finding a message, in an HTML page that had no external link, that I needed to contact them - at least their tech support is fast. I actually tried to upgrade the phpBB a while back with a prior version and it didn't work. Luckily, this new version did.
And I just deleted my first forum spammer of the morning. All is well! |
